i'm back with an update! a major long one. my cousin's son's visit was good. him and his gf are really fobby and innocent so we didn't have much to worry about. we ended up having them crash on our couches. they basically wanted to see as many sights as possible and shop as much as possible. it was funny because my nephew wanted to shop way more than his gf. there were so many things he was looking to buy. i must be getting old because some of the stuff he wanted to buy i have never heard of...like christian audigier t-shirts? he got really excited when he found out i worked for a dept store...i guess the love of clothes runs in the family... so it was an intense weekend and we packed in as much as we could. here's a summary of what we accomplished... THURS 9am- nephew and gf arrive in NY via bus from Toronto. my dad tried to meet them at port authority so he could take them for breakfast and drop them off in ktown for one of those bus tours of the city. they ended up getting dropped off at penn station and the hubs who wasn't working that day dropped me off at work and then headed towards midtown to try and find them. they all meet at penn station and my dad basically says hi and leaves for work and the hubs takes them back to long island city to our apt to drop off their stuff and took them to a diner for hamburgers for breakfast. they missed the korean tour so the hubs trained it back out to the city with them and they all hopped on one of those nyc double decker bus tours. hahaha poor hubs! 7pm they meet me after work...we train it back to LIC, pick up our car, and drive to flushing to have dinner with my parents. then back to my parents house for dessert. 9:30pm we drive the kids back out to the city so they can see some more sights. we drive them through times square and let them out so they can take some night pictures. 11pm we take them up the empire state building 12:30am i walk them inside camel, a bar/lounge in ktown, to show them where the hubs and i first met lol. 1:30am we get home and plan out the next day's activities Friday 9am we head back out to the city. i had taken the day off because the kids really wanted to go shopping at woodbury. we stop at the inlaw's deli for breakfast and then made a stop at saks. 1pm we leave saks to head up to woodbury. stop in harlem on the way up so they can see what that area's like 9pm we leave woodbury to go home 11pm get home and try to plan out the next day's activties...the nephew and his gf get into an argument cause she wants to see the statue of liberty in the morning while he wants to go back to saks to buy some more stuff. timing for statue of liberty didn't work anyways because i had bought tickets for chicago at 1pm 12am we head back out to the city. we take them to the west village, had hot dogs at gray's papaya, and showed them tattoo shops and a sex shop. haha we tried to make it the complete NYC experience. then we stopped in st marks and i took them to BAMN for some snacks. 2am get home and my nephew tells me he wants to wash his socks and stuff so i run a load of freaken laundry! seriously i was delirious at this point. Saturday 10am we head back to the city and go shopping at saks. the nephew wants to also buy some throwback nikes so the hubs takes him to soho while the gf and i stayed at saks. 1pm we meet up to watch Chicago After Chicago, we took them for dinner at Johnny Rockets, bought some souvenirs, took them inside Grand Central to kill time and for more pictures, and then dropped them off at the bus at 8pm. Seriously, longest weekend ever. The hubs and i seriously felt so old after they left.
haha as you can see from the chicago picture the hubs was delirious by that point too! the day after the nephew left was hubby's birthday. we went to this awesome go-karting place in NJ. thanks for the recommendation steph! i think the hubs had a great time...we did a group package so we were all able to race against each other. i have pictures on my comp at home so i'll upload them another time. so the end of june was really hectic and it seems like july is just as hectic. one of the main highlights so far was i held my first baby last weekend!!! so yes other than seeing babies on the street i have never seen/held a baby in my life. being 8 years younger than my sis and the youngest cousin out of my entire family...i've never known anyone with a baby! i had lunch with some gf's and one of their gf's just had her second child and she let me hold her! seriously it was the most amazing experience of my life. we went to said friend's house this past saturday and i was able to hold little emmi again and was also able to snap a picture!
seriously i am officially baby obsessed. not like dying to have one but dying to see/hold/learn anything baby related. the hubs and i are definitely not ready for one though...we really believe that you're never really ready to have a baby until you just have one, but we need to quit smoking, exercise, get healthy, and a whole list of other things before we start trying. also i'm hoping that some of my friends will get married and be ready to have kids at the same time! on that note i am totally not ready to turn 27. |
